I had an absolutely lovely day today during which I did almost completely nothing! It was bliss!
I slept in late — the kind of late sleeping where you might periodically wake up only to realize that you don’t actually have to get up and with a feeling of pure joy you can lay your head back down on the pillow and doze off again. Isn’t that the BEST? I think so.
I also had a few wacky dreams. Only one of the anxiety-produced kind (I was supposed to be teaching a creative writing class all semester but had forgotten to show up — yes, teachers have these kinds of dreams, too) and a whole series of funny dreams where I was on a swim team with Kristen Bell and we were swimming thousands and thousands of meters of laps in a huge, perfectly blue, beyond Olympic-sized pool.
The dog and I have been catching up with our missed television shows (House, Fringe, and maybe later some Monk) and generally being as lazy as humanly and/or caninely possible. This is exactly what I needed after a long semester with no breaks in it. Why we don’t have a proper Fall break, unlike every other semester-system college in the US, is beyond me, but for once I’m not in the mood to bitch. Maybe it’s the long, restful day or maybe it’s this glass of cabernet beside me here, but either way I’m feeling pretty content. And you?
